Fellow classmates,

I have thought of attending this event (Monster Mash) the last couple years but living in Southern California and date conflicts have stopped me. I think this would be a lot of fun and would be a very easy way for us to have a 35 year event.
I have forwarded this to those that I have email addresses for, and would hope that you would do the same to your list. Even if you won't be able to make it, the others might have interest.

Drop me a note to see what your thoughts are on this idea. It would be fun to know of who else will try and make it.

Larry & the Flames are Highly Recommended!!! I've danced to them at The Mountaineers, at barn dances, and at fund raisers. They can even make these tired old feet move! Great music, great band, great fun, great friends and people. I hope the dance will be after mid-September since I will be in Alaska all summer until then.
Best to all of you!

Fondly,
Craig Campbell

Dear Class of 1969 -- Bellevue High School, and others likely to be interested:

Larry & the Flames invite you to the Second Annual Duster (Phil) Detwiler Memorial Party and Charity Golf Benefit for the Campfire Foundation. It will be an all-day event in Sun Valley Idaho on Saturday October 2, 2004. Larry & the Flames will be playing at the dance in downtown Ketchum that night, beginning at 8 pm. This promises to be a memorable event!

Also, please see the announcement below for Monster Mash VII, the annual Halloween Party in Seattle sponsored by the Flames. It will be at the Mountaineers Hall again this year, on Saturday October 30. Last year, it was the occasion for the 35th Year Reunion of the Bellevue High class of '68. This year, some members of the class of '69 are calling for a similar gathering for themselves at the Monster Mash. Everyone is welcome!

(Four of the Flames are from the BHS class of '68: Gail Carlson Van Valey, Peter Gant, Bill Stixrud and Paul Wick. Two others are almost of this vintage: Steve Hopp, and Bob Schneider. The two other members are Scott Rogers and Rich Riippa. The Flames are a not-for-profit rock 'n roll band.)

Yours,
Paul Wick

DUSTER DETWILER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
What Is It All About?

Established in early 2002, this fund benefits the CAMPFIRE FOUNDATION, a Not-for-Profit Sun Valley area organization providing scholarships for personal growth experiences. Specifically, this scholarship supports youth in the Sun Valley area who have a passion for athletics, demonstrate enthusuasm for learning and self-improvement, have high integrity and realize the importance of self worth.

The 2004 Scholarship was awarded to a local female soccer player, enabling her to attend an international premiere soccer clinic and tournament, and it "was not only unforgettable from a soccer point of view, but an event that will undoubtedly be remembered as a defining point of my teenage years."
DUSTER WOULD BE SO PROUD! ANY CONTRIBUTION IS WELCOME! THANK YOU!

My dad was always happy, he had a twinkle in his eye,
And ever since he left, I swear to you, the stars twinkle in the sky.
Everything he ever had has a happy little touch. It makes me smile because I can hear him laugh, although I miss him very much.
My dad loved to play sports, and so took joy in watching me,
He always made time for us, even though he was busy as could be.
He was always there to cheer me on; he was my number one fan.
And so, in this spirit, we have devised a little plan.
If my dad loved to watch us down here, then why not from above?
So, let’s get together, and remember his presence, the memories, and his love.
My dad liked to play golf (he was pretty good), so in this way,
Chip, Alex, Roger and us are inviting you to come and play.
In a “Golf Day” at The Valley Club, in memory of my dad,
So, come on down and join us, it would make us very glad.
Proceeds and Donations will benefit the Blaine County Campfire Foundation,
Which helps kids involved in athletics, this is yet another motivation.
The golf day will be followed by dinner, and a hat party (it’s a Detwiler thing)
A goofy hat, a smile and your golf clubs, are all you have to bring.
There are those that don’t wish to play golf, and that’s just as good.
You can still join us for dinner; it would please us if you would.
The date is October 2nd; people are coming from California, Seattle and here.
So hurry and respond, since the date is drawing near.
